The General Dental Council’s (GDC) has launched their new confidential helpline which gives practical and helpful advice which all BSDHT members need to be aware of.
For decades, BSDHT members have been committed to working towards the best possible care for patients and this helpline is an excellent tool which we can all use to do just this.
The GDC helpline is an easy and effective way for all BSDHT members to report issues within their practice which previously they may have been uncomfortable doing so. They can identify problems in full confidence that they will remain anonymous and that their problems will be addressed in an effective and professional manner.
As dental professionals we all have a duty of care which relies on high standards of quality, this helpline will help to support all BSDHT members who will be able to turn to it for guidance and support to maintain these high standards while also giving them a strong foundation to support any problems they face in their individual practices.
The BSDHT is also very happy that this helpline promises to not only protect patients but other dental professionals from any practice which they deem to be unsafe or inappropriate. We have long advocated a better working environment, in which everybody is able to carry out their job to the best of their ability. The introduction of this helpline is exactly the type of tool which will help to achieve this.

BSDHT maintain an on-going dialogue with the General Dental Council (GDC), the Departments of Health and all of the main groups representing dental care professionals, and attends meetings of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Dentistry, bringing dental hygiene and therapy to the attention of government ministers and MP’s.
