Help maintain the highest dental standards

The General Dental Council (GDC) ensures the highest dental standards - and as a dentist or dental care professional, your knowledge and expertise could help us maintain those standards by making sure those seeking to practise in the UK have the appropriate qualifications, knowledge and skill.

The Registration Assessment Panels are appointed by the GDC to review registration applications from dentists, dental care professionals and specialists, and make recommendations to the Council's Registrar on whether or not to accept an application. As a panel member, you would attend five meetings and two training days a year, as well as spending time to consider individual applications prior to meetings. Appointment is for a three-year term and we provide a daily fee of £353 plus expenses.

Training will be given on the assessment process, our governance procedures and relevant legislation. However, you will need knowledge of UK higher education systems and educational requirements for the dental profession. Experience of sitting on panels or committees would be useful.

Go to www.gdc-uk.org to view a full role profile and download an application form, which should be sent to Patrick Kavanagh, General Dental Council, 37 Wimpole Street, London, W1G 8DQ or pkavanagh@gdc-uk.org. You can also obtain an application pack by contacting Patrick Kavanagh.

Closing date: 26th Sept 2008.

No agencies please.

The GDC champions equality and celebrates diversity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
