Professor Eaton has had a very varied career over the last 40 years during which he worked for several years as a general dental practitioner and in the Community Dental Service.
He has been: Director of the Royal Air Force School of Dental Hygiene and Clinical Adviser in Periodontology, Senior Dental Officer at the Department (Ministry) of Health (England), with responsibility for all aspects of dental education, Director of the National Centre for Continuing Education of Dentists and a Visiting Professor at a Dental School in Portugal. He is currently on the United Kingdom’s specialist lists for Periodontology and Dental Public Health and is a Visiting Professor at the University College London and King’s College London Dental Institutes and an Honorary Professor at the University of Kent, Editor of Primary Dental Care and Oral Health and Dental Management, National Research Co-ordinator for the Faculty of General Dental Practice, President Elect of the European Association of Dental Public Health, Adviser to the Council of European Chief Dental Officers and a Regional Dental Tutor at Canterbury.
Professor Eaton is a past President of the Education Research Group and Practice-Based Research Network of the International Association for Dental Research and Board Member of the Journal of Dental Research. He has lectured in over 30 countries and has over 270 publications in journals, books and other learned works.
