My name is Jo and I live in the glorious sea side town of Whitstable in Kent.
I started my career in dentistry as a trainee nurse when I left school at 16. From here I worked in practice , community and the Maxillo Facial Department in a local Hospital.
One of the things I love the most about our profession is no two days are ever the same and I always had the desire to learn more.
I trained in conscious sedation and radiography but had always wanted to get involved in a more ‘hands on’ way.
This is when I went to study dental hygiene and therapy at Kings College London and graduated in 2008.
I am now proud to be part of a team at 2 local and very supportive practices.
The highlight of my career to date is when I went to Cambodia with a group of volunteers where we treated street children and orphans. I would recommend volunteering to anyone who gets the opportunity!
To be an ambassador for the BSDHT excites me as I am proud to be part of a society that represents our profession.
When I am nut talking teeth (I don’t think I ever stop talking !)
My free time is spent with my husband, my son and our beautiful boxer dog and singing in my community choir.
