Sarah Walker

Scottish Regional group Representative

Sarah has been a member of BSDHT since qualifying as a Dental Hygienist in 1991. She began by working in NHS/Private Practice and the Community Dental Service in Fife and then in the Lothian’s for 15 years, taking some time out to have her family.

The opportunity then arose in 2005 to undertake the pilot Dental Therapy Conversion course for qualified Dental Hygienists at Edinburgh Dental Institute. Since graduating in 2006 she has been working for the Public Dental Service undertaking mainly unscheduled/emergency dental care for unregistered patients, inhalation sedation for paediatric patients, care of the elderly, children and adults with special needs.

Sarah is also tutor Therapist on the BSc Oral Health Sciences (Hons) offered by Edinburgh University one day per week – currently supervising the students on the Outreach programme.

She whole heartedly supports BSDHT and all the society has done in the past for our members and is honoured to be representing the Scottish membership working with the BSDHT Council on all the current and future projects.
