Consultant in Special Care Dentistry, Barts Health

GDC: 178850

Dr Stacey Clough has centred her career on provision of oral health care in the Community and Hospital Dental Services to vulnerable children and adults. She is currently working as a Consultant in Special Care Dentistry at Barts Health NHS Trust, where her main patient base is young people and adults with dental anxiety, behavioural or medical complexities which challenge the delivery of dental treatment. She uses a range of approaches to support patients such as behavioural strategies and conscious sedation. She has developed a diverse skill set in sedation including inhalational, intra-venous, intra-nasal and oral techniques to suit individual patients, when conventional approaches may not be possible. She is significantly experienced in the provision of dental treatment under general anaesthesia.

Originally graduated from the University of Leeds with distinction, she has since completed Diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, followed by a Certificate of Completion of Specialty Training and Masters of Science in Special Care Dentistry with distinction.

Dr Stacey Clough has published articles in peer reviewed scientific journals to advance patient care across settings and dental education. She is significantly involved in teaching of the dental team at under-graduate and post-graduate levels, including the development and delivery of teaching in Sedation and Special Care Dentistry for those undertaking the Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy through Queen Mary’s University London. She is Co-Founder of Sedation Education (SedEd), an accredited provider of training in conscious sedation to support the provision of dental treatment.
