In her inaugural address our new President, Michaela Oneill, spoke about a BSDHT initiative to look at the oral care of the elderly and dependent persons in residential care homes. Since the introduction of Direct Access many Dental Hygienists, and those dually qualified in Hygiene and Therapy, are considering working in this field by treating patients directly or by educating care staff in oral hygiene care.
We would like to hear from anyone currently working in this field, or planning to in the future, with their experiences of successes or any difficulties encountered.
We will maintain confidentiality where requested.
